Important Facts You Should Know About Hospital Hospitality House

  • Who are we? We are a small non-profit corporation with a mission to provide a “home-away-from-home” for the family members and loved ones of seriously ill patients from outside Fayette County and approved out-patients referred by any Lexington hospital. Our staff includes a full-time Executive Director, K. Lynn Morgan, and four live-in resident staff college students who receive room and board in lieu of a salary.

  • Where are we? We have been at 342 South Limestone for the past 25 years. We’re located on the University of Kentucky campus in an 1880’s house. Our site is between Samaritan Hospital and the dormitory complex, and across the street from a McDonald’s restaurant.

  • What is provided? We have 18 beds available for our guests with limited semi-private rooms; clean linen & towels; baths & showers; personal hygiene items; a fully stocked kitchen for snacks and meal preparation along with some prepared meals to reheat; telephones for local and incoming calls; television & video/DVD and laundry facilities for our guests’ use.

  • When is it open? We are open from 7:00a.m. to 10:00p.m. each evening. Check-in must be prior to 7:00p.m. for new guests that are being referred by the hospital.

  • How do I get a reservation? Guests must get a referral from the hospital in which their loved one is a patient. It can be obtained from a chaplain, social worker, Patient Relations or senior nursing staff who will call HHH to make arrangements.

  • How much does it cost? Guests are asked to please make a suggested donation of $10.00/day to assist with the operational cost of Hospital Hospitality House for their stay.

  • Operating Costs? Our annual operating costs run somewhere around $160,000. We need your help!

  • How are we funded? We’re funded by donations from individuals, organizations, local corporate citizens, church organizations, some private grants and some of the Lexington Hospitals. We receive no funding from city, county, state, federal government, or The United Way.

  • How can you help?
